Macedonian Soccer Team Make History by Advancing to the European Championships

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) proudly congratulates the entire Macedonian national soccer team on their outstanding performance against Georgia. Macedonia won the match 1-0 in the UEFA Euro Qualifying round, positioning themselves to appear in Macedonia’s first-ever Euro Cup next summer June 11-July 11, 2021.

Last night’s win is a very historic moment for Macedonia and for its 37-year-old captain Goran Pandev on making the goal to put Macedonians over the top. Goran Pandev has played for this club since 2001, and further extended himself in Macedonian history as the all-time leading goal scorer with 36 goals, 20 more goals than Macedonia’s next highest goalscorer, Georgji Hristov. Macedonia will now face Austria and Ukraine in Bucharest in Group C before taking on the top-seeded Netherlands.

UMD looks forward to joining Macedonians around the world in cheering on the Macedonian national team next summer. Euro Cup Here We Come! United, We Can!
